"Everywhere in nature we are taught the lessons of patience and waiting. We want things a long time before we get them, and the fact that we want them a long time makes them all the more precious when they come." -Joseph Smith

7 things

Peggy tagged me in a post on her blog. You tell 7 things about yourself. I tried to think of things that weren't obvious or well known. Then, you pick other people to do the same on their blog. Some have already done this - so if you haven't - consider yourself officially TAGGED! I'm anxious to read yours!

Here goes...

#1 I love the smell of dirt. Especially just turned dirt. I love the feel of mud.

#2 My sister Peggy chooses my books for casual reading. When I want to read a book for fun and relaxation - I go to Peggy. She's never let me down. She's earned this position. I didn't read much growing up. It was encouraged by my parents, but reading was boring. Or so I thought. Turns out I just didn't know how to pick good ones. My love of Mistborn came from her. I recently read Peggy's latest book and loved it. She knows how to write to my interest too!

#3 I don't have a favorite color - anymore. Don't tell the 9 year old me that. She'd be freaked out. I remember when I was little thinking my mom was crazy for her favorite colors being yellow and orange. At the time I thought, "WHAT?! Those aren't colors you should be able to pick as favorites!" Mine was Blue at that time. Then it became Red for a long time. Now, I just love them all. Certain ones are higher than others. Orange is near the top. Black is near the bottom.

#4 My first car was a Nova. I rebuilt my second car (a Cavalier) with my dad and brothers. Yes, that's really me. And, yes, I really did a lot of the work. More than I ever want to do again. I learned to weld. I learned to wire a dash from the engine. I learned my way around a junk yard looking for parts. I learned that it's not easy to switch from one year to another in cars.
#5 Few things really get me emotional. I never cry during a movie. Besides family related things, soldiers coming home gets me every time. I'm so grateful for the things they do for our freedom, and I feel so much for them having to leave family for large chunks of time. I've only cried once in a book - Book 7 of Harry Potter. Anyone who's actually read it likely understands.

#6 I stand on things. Sometimes I find myself standing on a chair. Maybe I was reaching something, and I stayed there. I usually realize it mid conversation when I notice Aria copying me and standing on one too. I'm not short... so I don't know why I like this. Drew says it's because I'm weird. Nah, I don't think that's it.

#7 I like shiny and sparkly things. I am very easily distracted. One time, there was this... OH! WHAT'S THAT?!

What was I saying? Hmm.. guess I'll go do laundry. Wait... I was doing a blog post... shoot...

Oh I know! You probably cried at the same part in book 7 that I did, when Dobby died. :( Those are my casual read books :) Kris, you're awesome! This was fun to read, some I think I knew, some were cool to find out :)

Hahaha! I totally didn't know about the standing on things! And I totally agree on the color thing. Except my black and orange are switched. :) Oh, wait. Does this mean you hate 90% of what I wear?!

@Kim - I guess there were 2 parts. When Dobby dies, and at the end when Harry is walking through the forest with the stones to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Sigh...

@Peggy - Remember I like all colors? So even though it's lower on my list, I still like it! It's way above mustard yellow and pee green! I wear enough black too.

The 4th fact about you is excellent! Definitely something I would have never guessed. Apologizes if I sound rude when I say this, but you look exactly the same in the photo as you do now! Note that I don't know how old you are, but you must prefer having a good amount of hair on your head than little to none at all.

Cute post, very funny. I mostly loved the part about getting distracted!! That is me to a T. Sometimes Alex will come home and see the evidence...a pile of laundry started, makeup on the counter, blog up on the computer...ect. So glad you and I share this!
